(sa)

صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam is often abbreviated as (sa) or (saw), and is written and rehearsed aloud after the mentioning of the Holy Prophet Muhammad's (sa) Noble Name.

Muslims rehearse this prayer to invoke blessings upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa).

اِنَّ اللّٰہَ وَمَلٰٓئِکَتَہٗ یُصَلُّوۡنَ عَلَی النَّبِیِّ ؕ یٰۤاَیُّہَا الَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا صَلُّوۡا عَلَیۡہِ وَسَلِّمُوۡا تَسۡلِیۡمًا

"Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! you also should invoke blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of peace." -33:57
